About the NHL Forward Builder

What would happen if you could combine the best qualities of NHL forwards into one player? That's the challenge behind the NHL Forward Builder on 84-0. You'll spin for different hockey players, choose one attribute from each, and gradually create your own custom forward. Once the build is complete, you can put your creation through a full 84-game NHL season and see how the numbers stack up.

The interesting part is that every run can take a completely different path. One spin might give you elite hands, while another could offer incredible speed or hockey IQ. You have to decide which strengths are worth keeping and when it's better to take a chance on the next player.

How does the NHL Forward Builder work?

Each round gives you a randomly selected NHL player and a group of attributes to choose from. You can keep exactly one attribute before moving on to the next selection.

There are ten spins in total, giving you ten opportunities to shape your forward. You also get three passes, which let you reject an option when the available choices don't fit your plan.

The challenge is knowing when to lock in a great skill and when to gamble on a better opportunity. A strong scorer might look perfect at first, but a more balanced combination could produce a better season once the simulation begins.

What attributes can you choose for your forward?

The available traits cover different parts of a forward's game, including shooting, hands, speed, hockey IQ and other skills that influence how your player performs.

Because every attribute comes from a real NHL player, your final creation can blend completely different styles. You might combine the finishing ability of an elite goal scorer with the speed of a dangerous skater and the awareness of a veteran playmaker.

What happens after you finish your forward?

Once you've selected all ten attributes, your custom forward is ready for the season simulation.

Your player will take part in a full 84-game NHL season, giving you a chance to see how the finished combination performs across an entire schedule. Goals, assists and points become the real test of whether your decisions produced an elite player.

A high overall rating is useful, but it doesn't tell the whole story. The right combination of traits can be just as important as having one exceptional skill.

Can I compare my forward with other players?

Yes. Completed builds can be saved to the global leaderboard, allowing you to compare your results with other 84-0 players.

You can compete using both the Current Era and All-Time player pools, with separate leaderboards for each. That means you can experiment with different strategies and try to improve your best result rather than simply playing the same way every time.

You can also generate a shareable player card and show your creation to friends.

Can you chase Gretzky's records?

That's one of the biggest challenges.

Your custom forward gets an entire 84-game season to chase historic NHL numbers, including Wayne Gretzky's incredible scoring records. The goal isn't just to create a highly rated player, it's to build someone who can actually produce over a full season.

There isn't one guaranteed formula for getting there. Every run gives you different players, different choices and different opportunities. Make the most of your passes, build around the skills your player needs most, and see whether your creation can put together a season worthy of the record books.
