Think you can build a better NBA starting five than another basketball fan? The NBA 1v1 game puts you directly against a live opponent in a snake draft where every pick can change the matchup.
You aren't drafting in isolation. When you take a superstar, that player disappears from your opponent's options too. The best strategy isn't always choosing the biggest name on the board, sometimes the smartest move is taking away the player your opponent needs most.
Each matchup gives you five positions to fill: point guard, shooting guard, small forward, power forward and center. Players are drafted one at a time and automatically slot into their natural position.
The snake format makes the draft order especially important. If you pick first, you get the earliest access to the best option, but your opponent gets the advantage of making the next two selections.
That means every round requires you to think beyond your own lineup.
Start by looking at what your opponent is likely to need. If there are only a few elite centers available, taking one can be more valuable than adding another great guard to your own roster.
The same applies to the later rounds. A player who isn't your first choice can still be an excellent pick if they prevent your opponent from completing a major weakness.
The best drafts balance building your team and disrupting theirs.
Yes. Each round can introduce a different franchise and era, and you have limited redraws to change the setup.
That means you may have to compare players from completely different periods of NBA history. Historical numbers aren't always the only thing that matters, either. Era adjustments can influence how players are evaluated in the simulation.
You need to think about how the player fits the matchup, not just how impressive his career statistics look.
Once both starting fives are complete, the teams enter the season simulation.
Your lineup is evaluated through its offensive and defensive strengths, and the better season record determines the winner. A roster filled with famous names isn't automatically a winning roster — balance across the five positions matters.
That's what makes the simulation such a good final test of the draft.
Yes. Ranked matches use an Elo rating system, so your rating changes based on your results against other players. The global leaderboard gives you a way to see how your drafting ability compares with the wider 84-0 community.
You can also play again, experiment with different draft strategies and try to build a winning streak.
There isn't one perfect formula.
Sometimes the obvious superstar is the right choice. Other times, denying your opponent a scarce position can be far more valuable.
Watch which positions are disappearing, think one or two picks ahead, and don't build your lineup as if you're drafting against an empty board.
You aren't just building the best five possible. You're building the five that can beat the five sitting across from you.
